Bryana Evert, Principal EVDA and Architect in California

Bryana Evert

Principal

About

Bryana’s interest in architecture stems from the enjoyment of learning new things and experiencing different environments and cultures during her travels. She has had the pleasure to live in many different types of towns and cities all over the world including Alexandria Virginia, San Diego, Kortrijk (Belgium), Chicago and Gainesville Florida. She has found that the experiences gained from traveling to and living in different parts of the world influences her design process.  She has a passion for connecting people to the natural environment through sustainable design.

Bryana resides with her husband Eric in Gainesville, Florida.  They enjoy spending time outdoors cycling on the Hawthorne trail, swimming, or simply going for a walk - often with a stop for ice cream.  In her spare time you can also find her quilting, curled up on the couch with a good book, or tending to her vegetable garden.

Experience

Bryana is a licensed architect in California (C-37165) with many years of experience working at high-end custom residential architecture firms in San Diego and Chicago. She has previously worked with Robert for several years prior to partnering with him to form EVDA.

Bryana is also a Phius Certified Consultant (CPHC) bringing expertise in the leading passive building certification in North America, with the goal to design and build comfortable, healthy, energy-efficient buildings.

Education

Bryana received a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech. She participated in the design/buildLAB program as a student, designing and constructing an award-winning pedestrian bridge in Clifton Forge, Virginia.

Bryana continued her education with a Master of Architecture from KU Leuven in Belgium. Her master dissertation Urban Nature: Designing for Coexistence was the centerpiece in an exhibition on the importance of urban nature for sustainable city development at the Wonder Kortrijk Creativity Festival in 2021.
